Helena Soini is senior scientist at the IU Institute for Pheromone Research and the Novotny Glycoscience Laboratory. She has worked in industrial pharmaceutical (Orion and P&G Pharmaceutical) and food research laboratories (P&G Food Technology) for total 14 years as a scientist and a laboratory manager before joining IU.

Since 1997, Soini has held an external lecturer position at Helsinki University, Department of Chemistry, Analytical Laboratory. Since 1983, she has published 66 peer-reviewed articles, including two patents.

She received an M.Sc. degree in organic chemistry at Oulu University, Finland, in 1982 and a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry at Helsinki University in 1994.
