Expert Bio

Dr. Onyedika Ilonze is an assistant professor of medicine-cardiology at the IU School of Medicine. His research interests are in cannabis and heart failure/heart transplantation, health disparities in heart failure and heart transplantation, and utilizing novel and culturally sensitive modalities to address these disparities.

Dr. Ilonze completed a Master of Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He then completed residency in internal medicine at Unity Health/Rochester Regional Health in Rochester, New York. He completed a cardiology fellowship at Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic program in Roanoke, Virginia, and two advanced heart failure fellowships at Wake Forest University and at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
