Expert Bio

Dr. Onyedika Ilonze is an assistant professor of medicine-cardiology at the IU School of Medicine. His research interests are in cannabis and heart failure/heart transplantation, health disparities in heart failure and heart transplantation, and utilizing novel and culturally sensitive modalities to address these disparities.

Ilonze completed a Master of Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He then completed residency in internal medicine at Unity Health/Rochester Regional Health in Rochester, New York. He completed a cardiology fellowship at Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic program in Roanoke, Virginia, and two advanced heart failure fellowships at Wake Forest University and at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Cannabis and cardiovascular disease, heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.
