Expert Bio

Susan White is a lecturer in merchandising at the IU Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design. Her career began in retail buying, starting at Maison Blanche, a regional department store based in Louisiana. Later she joined the team at Paul Harris Stores, a national women’s specialty store with its home office in Indianapolis.

She finished up her retail experience as a divisional merchandise manager at Montgomery Ward in Chicago. With an interest in honing her passion for product development and technical design, she shifted to the wholesale side of the industry, establishing a knitwear division for the Sag Harbor brand under the Kellwood Group umbrella. Subsequently, she moved out on her own as an entrepreneur to start Merlin Merchandising, a private-label sweater design/sourcing agency in New York City.

Most recently, White has worked as CEO/founder of Turq, a unique collection of men’s performance apparel. She is a graduate of Indiana University and native Hoosier.
