Expert Bio
Jeremy Pekarek (he/him) is an archivist/curator at Indiana University Northwest, where he manages the Archives and Special Collections, which include the Calumet Regional Archives. He is the co-author of a book chapter for the Association of College and Research Libraries, published multiple essays and published over 20 book reviews. He has presented at state, regional and national conferences relating to his work in archival theory, management, librarianship and historical inquiry.
Before IU Northwest, he was appointed to the academic rank as a senior assistant librarian under the title of archivist and instructional services librarian at the State University of New York at Cortland; previously, he served as a visiting assistant librarian. At SUNY Cortland, Pekarek also served as an adjunct faculty member in the Computer Applications Program, where he taught credit-bearing courses.
He is a graduate of Cayuga Community College, the State University of New York at Oswego, with a BA and MA in history, and Syracuse University, where he received his Master of Library and Information Science and Certificate of Advanced Study in cultural heritage preservation. He is a Certified Archivist from the Academy of Certified Archivists. He earned a certificate in Diversity Equity Inclusion from Cornell University.
