Expert Bio

As a physician and clinical scientist, Dr. Anna Maria Storniolo focuses her career on compassionate, state-of-the-art oncologic care in the context of an academic setting. She is the founder and executive director of the Susan G. Komen Tissue Bank at the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, a unique resource of annotated breast samples from healthy volunteers. By providing the ability to correlate risk factors with changes in breast tissue, the bank hopes to unlock the secret of breast carcinogenesis.

She is an active participant in bringing science to the bedside and clinical observations back to the laboratory. In 2001, she founded Indiana’s first Breast Cancer Prevention Program, which provides individualized counseling and surveillance to hundreds of women at high risk for breast cancer.
