Expert Bio

Andrew “Andy” Baker is a faculty member in the Department of Geography at IUPUI and was appointed director of the Motorsports Studies Program in 2011. He completed his Ph.D. in geography from the University of Tennessee researching the economic, socio-cultural and environmental impact that motorsport events provide to their host locales.

A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Baker has attended the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race consecutively for over 30 years. Since 2005, he has witnessed and researched over 200 motorsport events, including 31 different racing series in 13 states.
