Expert Bio

Jon Kay directs Traditional Arts Indiana at Indiana University, where he also serves as an associate professor in the Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology. He is the author of “Folk Art and Aging: Life-Story Objects and Their Makers” and the edited volume “The Expressive Lives of Elders: Folklore, Art, and Aging.” He also creates exhibitions, hosts public programs and produces documentary videos about Indiana’s traditional arts.

At Traditional Arts Indiana, he coordinates a statewide apprenticeship program, a traveling exhibition network and Indiana’s Heritage Fellowships.
