Expert Bio

Leonid Rubchinsky is a faculty member in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at IUPUI and a member of the IU School of Medicine’s Stark Neurosciences Research Institute. His research involves neuroscience, mathematical biology and nonlinear dynamics. In particular, he is interested in oscillations and synchronization in neuroscience and in other biological systems.

He studied neural dynamics in health and disease: Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, addiction, autism spectrum disorders. His research was supported by the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation.

Rubchinsky studied at the University of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia; University of California, San Diego; and Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences as well as a postdoctoral fellowship in computational neuroscience and clinical neurophysiology at the University of California, Davis.

Areas of Expertise

Mathematical modeling in biology and life sciences, computational neuroscience, neural dynamics and systems neurophysiology, movement disorders.
