Tamara Hannon

Expert Bio

Dr. Tamara Hannon is a board-certified pediatric endocrinologist with specific training and expertise in patient-oriented clinical research in youth with obesity and diabetes. She is director of the pediatric diabetes program at Riley Hospital for Children, serving more than 1,800 pediatric diabetes patients across the state of Indiana and surrounding states.

Hannon has been extremely effective in forging thriving collaborations within the IU School of Medicine and beyond. These have included with investigators in Health Services Research and adult Endocrinology at the school; with partners at IUPUI; with scientists at Purdue University; and with community organizations such as the YMCA, Indy Urban Acres and the Indianapolis Healthplex.

She is a frequent invited speaker at prestigious venues both nationally and internationally, including at the American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions, the Endocrine Society Annual Meeting, the Obesity Society Annual Meeting, the Pediatric Endocrine Society & European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology International Joint Meeting and the International Diabetes Federation World Congress.

Hannon sits on numerous national committees, including the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Nutrition, the Pediatric Endocrine Society Public Policy Committee (co-chair), and the American Diabetes Association Youth Strategies Committee.
