Ed Holdaway has spent more than two decades with the IUPUI athletics Department, from being a student-athlete to his current administrative staff role. He oversees the department’s strategic communications while serving as the primary point of contact for 11 of the department’s 18 sports. In addition, he’s the longtime sport administrator for the running and golf programs.
He also oversees the department’s website, social media platforms and broadcasting efforts.
Since coming to Indianapolis in 1997, Holdaway has had the opportunity to be on staff for numerous marquee events including 10 NCAA Basketball Tournament (five Final Fours), the FIBA World Basketball Championships, the 2003 Women’s Soccer World Cup, numerous IHSAA state championships and Nike Basketball All-America Camps.
His initiatives on the IUPUI campus have included the marketing and media effort for IUPUI’s 2002-03 men’s basketball team, which competed in the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament. He also directed the media relations efforts as former IUPUI head coach Ron Hunter and the men’s basketball team partnered with Samaritan’s Feet to raise over 250,000 pairs of shoes for those less fortunate beginning in 2009.
