Expert Bio

James R. Brown previously worked as a school social worker in rural public schools, servicing students with emotional or learning challenges. He developed and implemented tier-one prevention in areas of schoolwide discipline programming, bully prevention and crisis team policy.

His research includes bully prevention services and how those services impacted students, teachers, bus drivers, principals and parents.

He has published on the following: State laws on bullying, and assessing strengths and limitations; parents’ experiences in discovering and responding to school officials about their child being bullied; detained youth access to care; IPE and alcohol withdraw; and work site wellness programs.
