Lynn R. Willis

Pharmacology & Toxicology (Emeritus)

Expert Bio

Lynn R. Willis taught medical pharmacology at the IU School of Medicine until his retirement in 2006. In the 1980s, he wrote weekly columns on alternative medicine, herbal remedies and over-the-counter drugs for the San Francisco Chronicle and The Indianapolis News. He introduced the subjects of nonprescription drugs and alternative medicine into the medical pharmacology course in the early 1990s, and he often lectures on these subjects to lay persons and medical professionals. His “bottom line” message is that consumers and health professionals alike should take nothing for granted where health-related information is concerned, and especially where nonprescription and alternative medicines are concerned.
