Expert Bio
Ranjan Muthukrishnan is an invasive species ecologist fellow at Indiana University’s Environmental Resilience Institute. He researches the factors that structure ecological systems and how they respond to different types of stresses.
One specific interest is the spread and impacts of invasive species. Muthukrishnan combines hands-on data gathering and mathematical modeling to understand ecosystems and their management. He studies not only the short- and long-term biological effects of different treatment strategies but also residents’ psychological attitudes toward nature and invasive species, particularly how these attitudes differ between invasive species and other environmental challenges such as pollution and climate change.
Areas of Expertise
Community ecology, invasive species ecology, ecological modeling, coral reef ecology.
