Important steps

IU President Michael A. McRobbie outlined steps IU has taken to respond to the pandemic, including transitioning to all-virtual instruction for IU's more than 100,000 students, conducting research to address and ultimately eradicate the virus, and supporting community partners.

Construction news

In Friday's meeting, which was held virtually, IU trustees approved three architectural designs for renovation projects on the IUPUI and Bloomington campuses.

A collaborative education specialist in educational leadership degree and a master's in food studies were approved during the meeting.

Executive order response

The trustees approved a request to let IU School of Medicine fourth-year students voluntarily elect to graduate early to bolster the state's health care workforce during the pandemic. School of Nursing students can also volunteer to help.

New leadership

Ken Iwama has been named the new chancellor of IU Northwest. Effective Aug. 1, he will lead IU's campus in Gary.

Election postponed

This summer's scheduled election for IU trustees is postponed until June 2021. Pat Shoulders will serve an additional year.
