IU South Bend Enrollment Growth Continues

Indiana University South Bend’s enrollment continues to increase, according to recently released data. Fall 2024 enrollment shows the total number of students at IU South Bend grew by approximately 4% over last year.

This highlights a pattern of growth for IU South Bend, following notable enrollment figures in 2023 that achieved the first year-over-year increase in 14 years. Also, the diversity of the student population remains on the rise, reflecting the community’s demographics.

Underrepresented students of color comprise 35% of the campus student body, an increase of more than 8%. The number of Hispanic/Latino students is up by nearly 10%, as IU South Bend gets closer to achieving a Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) status. Overall Hispanic/Latino enrollment is now at 24.1%, less than 1% away from the 25% needed to obtain the HSI federal designation. International student enrollment increased by close to 12%.

Overall, there are 4,631 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at IU South Bend. Graduate enrollment is up by approximately 4%, with these students making up around 12% of the student population.

The Honors Program, designated for students with a focus on academic excellence and community service, has a total of 472 students enrolled, an 8% increase from last year.

IU South Bend’s Military Friendly Designation, which is awarded based on important factors to veterans including academic policies, admissions, financial assistance, and culture, signifies the university as an appealing place for veterans to pursue their education. The number of student veterans enrolled this fall grew more than 8% over last year.

More than 88% of students are from Indiana, with nearly 82% from the North Central Indiana region. Overall, IU South Bend students hail from 34 states and 65 countries.
