2024 Week of Welcome promises fun for everyone

Join in the fun for IU Southeast’s Week of Welcome. Events kick off on Saturday August 24, and run through Friday, Aug. 30. Coordinated by the Campus Activities Board, the week is packed with daily activities that include cookouts, free soft drinks, live music, games and opportunities to get involved in the campus community. As more events are added to the schedule below, check back for updates on GrenadierCentral.

 

The schedule for the week is as follows:

Saturday, August 24

  • Volunteer Service Project (tentative – we only have a few sign ups. Another email is being sent from Admissions on 8/15 – we will make that call on 8/19)
      • 9:00a.m. to 11:00 a.m.., McCullough Plaza
      • Meet at McCullough Plaza at 8:30 a.m. to board a bus to the Harbor House in Louisville, KY to complete a short service project. The bus will return to campus at 11:30 a.m. Enjoy a pizza lunch with the other student volunteers.

Monday, Aug. 26

  • Coke Booth
      • 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., McCullough Plaza
      • The coke booth will be run by both staff and faculty who will be giving out refreshments to students, The HUB
  • Chancellor’s Pancake Breakfast by Chris Cakes
      • 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., McCullough Plaza
      • Chris Cakes will be flipping pancakes for students, staff, and faculty to welcome them back.
  • Student Involvement & Resource Fair
      • 11:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., McCullough Plaza
      • Student organizations, university departments, and off-campus organizations will set up tables around McCullough Plaza to showcase their organization to students.
  • Bert’s Provisions Food Truck
      • 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., McCullough Plaza
      • Barbeque sandwiches provided by First Financial Bank
  • DJ Allison
      • 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., McCullough Plaza
  • Outdoor Game Night
      • 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., North Lawn
      • Kona Ice Truck

Tuesday, Aug. 27

  • Coke Booth
      • 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., McCullough Plaza
      • The coke booth will be run by both staff and faculty who will be giving out refreshments to students.
  • Student Involvement & Resource Fair
      • 11:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., McCullough Plaza
  • WDJX Broadcast
      • 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., McCullough Plaza
  • Fresco Tea Truck
      • 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., McCullough Plaza
      • Fresco Tea Truck will be parked outside of UC to provide tea’s to students
  • University Police - Chilidogs
      • 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., McCullough Plaza
      • Stop by McCullough Plaza and grab a free chilidog
  • Tethered Balloon Rides
      • 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., South of tennis courts and Willow parking lot

Wednesday, Aug. 28

  • Coke Booth
      • 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., McCullough Plaza
      • . The coke booth will be run by both staff and faculty who will be giving out refreshments to students.
  • Kuvebo!
      • 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., McCullough Plaza
      • Kuvebo! Will perform village style drum and dance party
  • Ice Cream Treats
      • 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., McCullough Plaza
      • Come grab an ice cream treat to cool off
  • Zaxby’s Giveaway – Chicken Sandwiches
      • 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., McCullough Plaza
      • Come grab a Free Chicken Sandwich
  • Game Night
      • 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., University Center Commons
      • Students will play board games, eat snacks and mingle.

Thursday, Aug. 29

  • Volunteer Involvement & Resource Fair
      • 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., McCullough Plaza
      • Community Partners will be on campus to talk about volunteer opportunities
  • Oh My Lollies
      • 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., McCullough Plaza
      • Enjoy a delicious popsicle – many flavors
  • Hike
      • 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., Meet at McCullough Plaza 
  • Meet at McCullough Plaza at 4:30 p. m. to meet up with the Hiking Club to head out on the trail

 

  • Grillin’ with Greek Life
      • 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Patio Outside University Center
      • Greeks will mingle with students to talk about recruitment and rush.
