Pride of Indiana is a regular feature in Inside IU that allows IU faculty and staff to recognize their colleagues for IU-related work they’ve done that goes above and beyond their job duties or responsibilities.

Submit a Pride of Indiana shout-out for a colleague who makes a difference in your department.

Thank you to the following IU employees:

IU Bloomington

Kevin Tharp, of the Center for Survey Research, whose nominator wrote: “There are few people who embody commitment to IU and its mission like Kevin. With our center shorthanded the past several months, Kevin has volunteered to take on extra work to make sure that projects get done, even with his already full plate. But he doesn’t just do the extra work, he thinks creatively about ways to do it better to make the research that we produce even stronger. It is such a privilege to behold the force that is Kevin – thank you for being AMAZING!”

IUPUI

Je’ Nobia Smith, of the School of Liberal Arts, whose nominator wrote: “Being a new employee to the campus, Je’ Nobia went out of her way to welcome me and make me feel at home from my very first week being here. It made an impact on me, and I truly appreciate her kindness.”

IU Kokomo

Audra Dowling, Kate Aguilar and Bev Ringeisen, of Student Life and Campus Diversity, whose nominator wrote: “I would like to recognize Dean of Students Audra Dowling, coordinator of diversity and student life Kate Aguilar and administrative secretary Bev Ringeisen for planning such a tremendous welcome week for our students at IU Kokomo. I love the energy and creativity your events bring to our campus; thank you for all you do!”

Tara Bass, of the Office of Student Success and Advising, whose nominator wrote: “Tara is an organizational guru! Her assistance with New Student Orientation this past orientation season allowed for the welcoming of new students for fall semester, in addition to tracking these students on their journey to their first day on campus. IU Kokomo created a new orientation model that provided 11 orientation events throughout the spring and summer. If not for Tara’s expertise from previous orientations and her complete dedication, I know that my workload would have increased exponentially. She always goes above and beyond to assist the Office of Student Success and Advising, the IUK campus and our students. Thank you, Tara for your awesomeness!”

School of Medicine

Peggy Trittipo, of the Department of Pediatrics, whose nominator wrote: “Peggy is such a great help to everyone here in the office. When we enter the office suite, our doors are already unlocked, the trash cans are put in our offices, and when it’s cold, she’ll even leave the doors open a bit to let our offices warm up. She has been on the job for more than 17 years and still has a smile on her face every morning for the staff, faculty and residents alike. She makes this department run so smoothly and I, for one, appreciate all that she does for us.”
