IUPUI student to appear on ‘Jeopardy!’ tonight

IUPUI student Ryan Hughey, in the teacher education program in the IU School of Education at IUPUI, will appear on tonight’s episode of “Jeopardy!”

Hughey is tight-lipped about the outcome of the episode. But he will say it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“I have been watching ‘Jeopardy!’ with my family since I was a little kid,” Hughey said. “Getting the chance to go out to Los Angeles, meet Alex and compete really is a dream come true for me. We had a great time out there filming, and now I have bragging rights whenever I go out to play trivia with my friends and family – not many people can say they’ve been on the show.”

Tune in to WTHR at 7:30 p.m. tonight to see Ryan compete.

Inside IUPUI to begin publishing on Thursdays

Beginning Oct. 19, Inside IUPUI will publish on Thursdays instead of Tuesdays. It will still arrive in your inbox weekly during the school year; the only change is the day of the week it will be published.

“With all of the wonderful things happening on campus through the week and the weekends, moving Inside IUPUI from Tuesday to Thursday allows us to better plan and prepare all of those great stories for the IUPUI community,” said Amber Denney, assistant director of strategic communications at IUPUI. “Publishing Inside IUPUI on Thursdays will give all of us something great to look forward to near the end of the workweek.”

Donuts with the Dean!

The Division of Undergraduate Education is hosting Donuts with the Dean in Taylor Hall Room 104 from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10. The event will be an informal gathering for undergraduates to meet the division’s dean and associate vice chancellor for undergraduate education, James “Jay” Gladden. Students can receive a free donut and will be able to ask the dean questions. Additionally, this event will provide an opportunity for students to voice opinions and offer suggestions regarding IUPUI, the division and the division’s student-support unit, University College.

Donuts with the Dean is just one of the efforts that the Division of Undergraduate Education is making this year to welcome students and receive their input regarding the campus and the division.
