Are you prepared for cold-and-flu season? The IU Staff and Faculty Clinic offers convenience for employees in the Indianapolis area to be proactive with their health, but you might be able to skip the doctor's visit altogether if you follow these tips.

To protect yourself from colds and the flu, remember to:

  • Wash your hands often.
  • Check your supplies to be sure you are well-stocked and that your nonprescription medicines haven't expired.
  • Get your flu shot.
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs.
  • Use the hand-sanitizing stations across campus.
  • Optimize your immunity by taking good care of yourself: Get plenty of sleep and adequate exercise, drink plenty of fluids, and eat a nutritious diet.

And don't forget: The IU Staff and Faculty Clinic offers both non-urgent and urgent care services throughout the year. So it's never too late to get your flu shot, but if you do get the flu or a cold, the clinic is here for you! If you become ill, stay home for at least 24 hours after the fever is gone, except when you need medical care.

The IU Staff and Faculty Clinic offers a convenient location and hours for services. Located on the third floor of the IU Health University Hospital Adult Outpatient Center, the clinic offers same-day, call-ahead appointments on a first-come, first-served basis Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with lab services available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Call to schedule an appointment at 317-944-4025 or schedule online.

The IU Staff and Faculty Clinic is not a new medical plan, and there is no enrollment required. Eligible employees and dependents (age 16 and older covered by an IU-sponsored medical plan) can use the clinic to receive routine as well as urgent care services by showing a medical plan ID card. The IU Staff and Faculty Clinic is a PPO provider, and medical plan coverage for services is based on the member's medical plan with applicable copays and deductibles.
