David Chappell to lead student services center at IU Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Boyd Bradshaw, IUPUI associate vice chancellor for enrollment manager and chief enrollment officer, has announced that David Chappell will serve as director of the student service center at Indiana University Fort Wayne, known as IUFW Student Central, when the campus realignment is complete July 1.

As director of IUFW Student Central, Chappell will oversee the day-to-day operations of all student services in Fort Wayne, including recruitment, admissions, pre-major advising, student financial services and registrar functions. He will also be an integral part of the strategic planning for enrollment management and student success at the campus.

"We are thrilled to have someone with David's experience and expertise on the team to lead this new venture in student services for our students in Fort Wayne," Bradshaw said. "His knowledge and interest in enrollment management will lend itself to creating an atmosphere of student success."

Chappell brings a wealth of leadership and higher education experience to the role, having previously served as the Fort Wayne campus administrator for Brown Mackie College. He earned a Doctor of Education degree in higher and postsecondary education from Argosy University and a Master of Science degree in biomedical engineering from Iowa State University.

"Having someone who is connected to and understands the Fort Wayne community means our students will have an advocate looking out for their best interests," said Ann Obergfell, IU Fort Wayne associate vice chancellor for academic affairs and operations. "We are building a community focused on student success and David is the perfect person to lead this effort."

IUFW Student Central will provide a "one-stop shop" for students to access a vast array of resources specifically designed for success in higher education. The all-in-one center is an innovative approach to student services for the new Indiana University Fort Wayne.

"Helping students find the tools and resources they need to reach their full potential is a key part of what motivates me to serve in higher education, and the opportunity to be at the beginning of a new tradition in Fort Wayne is fulfilling," Chappell said. "I'm excited for this opportunity to be a part of the growing IUFW family."

Chappell will begin his new post April 9.
