Mini University features more than 100 classes spanning a broad range of topics, including technology, the arts, domestic issues, education and health.

Ranked by Arthur Frommer's "Budget Travel" as one of the best learning vacations in the country, the IU Alumni Association-sponsored Mini U satisfies attendees' curiosity in a wide range of topics, including technology, the arts, domestic issues, education and health.

"Think of it as being at college for a week, and you're getting a taste of topics that professors are most passionate about," Watson said. "But you don't have to worry about tests or quizzes."

This year -- the program's 48th -- educators, retirees and other lifelong learners will hear from more than 100 faculty members, including Marjorie Hershey, professor of political science, discussing the state of American politics; Glenn Gass, professor of music, celebrating 50 years of the Beatles album "Abbey Road"; and Lantao Liu, assistant professor of intelligent systems engineering, talking about self-driving cars.

Classes, about an hour long each, convene in the Indiana Memorial Union and several other locations, such as the IU Archives, Lilly Library, Musical Arts Center and Jordan Hall Greenhouse. In addition to daytime classes -- three to four each day -- attendees are invited to attend film screenings, visit the Shawnee Theatre and partake in a number of special meals.

Pre-registration is required by calling 812-855-9335.

The IU Alumni Association is dedicated to serving the university and its diverse alumni, students and friends. As one of the nation's largest alumni organizations, serving more than 690,000 graduates worldwide, the IUAA provides many programs and services to its members, nonmember alumni and the university.
