What's open and closed during intersession? Here's everything you need to know

The intersession is upon us, and with it come brand-new changes across IUPUI. Most of the campus is away during this time, but for those remaining, here's a list of openings, closings and adjusted schedules for several campus hot spots.

Dining

Tower Dining, The Market and Chick-fil-A will remain open with the exception of holidays. You can find intersession hours and holiday closings online.

Mail

IUPUI Mail Services will continue to operate, making deliveries to most mailrooms and departments on a weekly basis. See the webpage for building delivery schedule, special arrangements and mailing guidelines for intersession.

Parking and Transportation

Until Feb. 7, all IUPUI parking permit holders may park in select student garages and surface lots on campus.

Starting Dec. 1 and running through Jan. 29, JagLine will have a reduced schedule.

Parking permit permissions and shuttle schedules can be found online.

Libraries

University Library is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The building is closed Saturdays and open from noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. The library will be closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 3.

At the Ruth Lilly Medical Library, doors are open to all visitors for study and research during library hours until 5 p.m. After 5 p.m., an IU School of Medicine ID allows entry. Non-School of Medicine researchers may use the call box by the library entrance or contact circulation desk personnel at 317-274-7182 to request entrance. The 24-hour study area is available by card access for IUSM medical students, residents and fellows. Regular hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays. The library is closed Saturdays and open from noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. From Dec. 21 through Jan. 3, the library will close at 6 p.m., and it will be closed altogether Dec. 24, 25 and 31 and Jan. 1.

The Ruth Lilly Law Library is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, closed Saturdays and open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. On Dec. 18, the library will close at 6 p.m. and remain closed through Jan. 10.

The IU School of Dentistry Library is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and closed on weekends. The library will be closed Dec. 12 through Jan. 3, and no services will be offered from Dec. 24 through Jan. 3.

Campus Center and Student Experiences

The Campus Center is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday:

Student Health

The Campus Center clinic is closed and will remain so through Jan. 19.

The Coleman Hall clinic will remain open with regular hours for most of the intersession, but it will close for certain holidays and have limited hours on some days:

  • The Coleman Hall clinic will be closed the following days:
    • Dec. 24 and 25.
    • Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
  • The Coleman Hall clinic will have limited hours on the following days:
    • Dec. 21-23, 8 a.m. to noon.
    • Dec. 28-30, 8 a.m. to noon.

Campus Recreation

Campus Recreation and the Jaguar Campus Recreation fitness facility are remaining open, with modified hours:

  • Now through Feb. 5: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and closed Saturdays and Sundays.
  • The facilities will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 24 and 31.
  • The facilities will be closed all day Dec. 25, Jan. 1 and Jan. 18.

Fall memberships will end on Dec. 31, and spring memberships can be purchased beginning Dec. 1 but will not be activated for use until Dec. 21.

Fitness classes will be available. A schedule will be out soon.

Counseling and Psychological Services

CAPS will continue operations as-is during the intersession by offering fully remote and virtual services. However, the CAPS office will be closed beginning Dec. 24 and will reopen Jan. 4.

Educational Partnerships and Student Success

Educational Partnerships and Student Success will continue to support students, parents and families, and programs through the intersession.

Sophomore Success Services, Parent and Family Programs, the Advancing Women Mentoring Program, and Weeks of Welcome are all operational.

They are available virtually 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

EPSS will be closed Dec. 24 and 25 and Jan. 1.

Health and Wellness Promotion

Health and Wellness Promotion has transitioned to remote services for the intersession. Staff are available virtually from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and will return to providing in-person services Feb. 8.

Ongoing virtual services include addiction recovery support, educational workshops, one-on-one health and wellness coaching sessions, tobacco cessation coaching, and alcohol/drug interventions.

The office will be closed Dec. 21 through Jan. 1.

Housing and Residence Life

Housing and Residence Life will remain open throughout the intersession to serve students who need to stay on campus:

  • Community offices will be open, but hours and locations may change.
  • RAs and the Residence Life team will continue to provide programs and support.
  • Work order responses remain the same.
  • Housing on-call help for resident support and emergency response -- lockouts, emergency work orders, etc. -- is still in place.
  • Meal service is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Mitigation testing remains in place, and all university housing policies regarding masks, guests, etc. remains in place.
  • On-campus quarantine and isolation housing will be available if needed.
  • Ball Hall, University Tower and North Hall will be closed from noon Dec. 21 through 8 a.m. Jan. 8. Students in these facilities who need to remain on campus during that time should contact reslife@iupui.edu.

Multimedia Production Center

The MPC will remain physically closed during the all-online period, which lasts until Feb. 7, but print requests sent in through the form at mpc.iupui.edu from faculty, staff, student organizations and general students are still being monitored.

Turnaround time for a print job will be handled on a case-by-case basis, and we will coordinate a pickup time with the person requesting the print job. The option to deliver posters to an office on campus is still available should that be necessary.

If a student organization needs assistance with a group account, passphrase reset, Duo access or website during this time, they should contact Nathan Mugg at jmugg@iupui.edu.

Student Advocacy and Support

The Office of Student Advocacy and Support will remain available virtually from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday during the intersession. Student advocates are hosting virtual walk-in hours from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Paws' Pantry and Paws' Closet are open for students on amended hours: Both are open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, by appointment only. Make an appointment by filling out the appointment form at paws.iupui.edu.

Office of Student Conduct

The Office of Student Conduct remains available, by appointment only, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. All appointments will be conducted via Zoom.
